2020 Clean Water Celebration
Zero Waste Resources
We are excited to have you participating in this year’s event! A valuable piece of our responsibility in protecting our water is eliminating as much waste as possible. We can do that by choosing products that can be reused or recycled, and by composting the food and drink that we don’t consume. The Clean Water Celebration will have composting/recycling locations at the Peoria Civic Center in/near the main exhibit hall. Each location will have the following available:
Composting station A
All food items
Waxed items like milk cartons, juice boxes, and waxed paper
Soiled paper products like paper plates, napkins, and paper towels
Composting station B
Recycling station A
Plastic products like water, soda, or juice bottles, Lunchablescontainers, fruit and pudding cups, etc.
Glass bottles or jars
Metal products like aluminum soda cans, tin or steel cans, and aluminum foil
Paper and cardboard products like paper lunch sacks and cardboard packaging… please note that napkins and paper towels are compostable!
Recycling station B
Plastic grocery bags
Plastic film like Saran wrap or the film you peel from containers
Ziploc or fold over sandwich baggies
Recycling Station C
Any foil-lined product like chip bags, granola bar wrappers, juice pouches, etc.
Plastic straws, plastic cutlery and tableware, and plastic lined paper products
Please challenge your students to have as close to “Zero Waste” as possible! If you would like absolutely free, 100% compostable, and 100% biodegradable packaging for your lunches or you need more information about this initiative, please contact: Tim Noonen at firstname.lastname@example.org
